The remastered title is slated to launch on May 19 in North America, with a release on May 22 in Europe. The news came earlier today in a prepared statement from the game’s director Hideki Kamiya. “This isn’t just a simple port,” says Kamiya of the upcoming reworking of The Wonderful 101. “We’ve tuned the controls for each new platform and made several adjustments that should make it easier to grasp and play. On top of that, we’ve improved the image quality and frame rate to suit modern hardware. On the whole, I’d say The Wonderful 101: Remastered is the definitive edition of the game”. The Wonderful 101: Remastered will cost $39.99/£39.99. The Wonderful 101 Kickstarter launched earlier this year and quickly smashed its $50,000 funding goal. At present, funding is close to hitting the $1.7 million mark, which would see a 2D side-scrolling adventure called Luka’s First Mission added. Thanks to hitting its prior stretch goals, the game will be developed for PC and PS4 alongside Switch. Originally released as a Wii U exclusive, Kamiya and Atsushi Inaba said back in 2018 the studio was negotiating with Nintendo for a possible Switch release. In the past, Kamiya expressed interest in developing a sequel to the game, as his team “put a tremendous amount of work” into the title, and it would be “unfortunate” if they missed the opportunity to tell a new story with the characters.
