The Last Oricru was unveiled today as one of several new IPs to be published by Koch Media’s new Prime Matter label. It is the debut game from Prague-based studio GoldKnights.
The Last Oricru is a third-person action RPG set in a world that blurs the line between fantasy and sci-fi. You play as a human who arrives on an alien planet in the midst of a civil war. The game uses this outsider perspective to offer players different opportunities to make choices big and small; aiding certain NPCs over others, siding with some the different factions, and so on. Almost every situation in the game can go differently depending on your choices in the moment, as well as your character’s history over the course of the game. This also goes for the endings, which can vary depending on the relationships you made along the way. The Last Oricru’s combat looks to be similar to Souls games, with animation-heavy attacks and a difficult encounters. You can choose from a variety of weapons, single and dual-wield. There’s even a system that allows you to take your starting weapons all the way to the endgame through upgrades. Along the way, you’ll be able to upgrade your character with different abilities. GoldKnights doesn’t want players to be bogged down by numbers, so the system is going to be seamless. Another cool addition in The Last Oricru is couch co-op, which not only allows two players to experience the game together at the same time, it opens up new avenues in combat. For instance, a boss fight could be avoided if the two players work together to trap the boss, something a solo player won’t be able to do. The Last Oricru is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. It will be released sometime in 2022.
