During tonight’s PS5 showcase, Sony showed off a brief trailer for the second instalment in Insomniac’s smash-hit Spider-Man series, this time featuring Miles Morales in the title role.
Rumors of the next game in the Marvel series started popping up in December 2019, where it was stated the game would be released during holiday 2021. Another rumor from earlier this year also stated the game would arrive during that timeframe. However, it’s now been confirmed that we’ll be seeing the game a full year earlier - right around the launch time of the PS5. The footage we saw, all apparently captured on PS5, gave us a sneak peek at Miles’ instantly recognisable black-and-red spider suit, along with some web-swinging action.
Details apart from that are thin on the ground, but Insomniac’s Spider-man series has featured heavily in Sony’s previous PS5 press conferences, including showing off the impact of the PS5’s new SSD.
Although there was a little bit of baddie-bashing, we didn’t see any real headline villains make an appearance. But there’s sure to be some well hidden hints for true Spidey aficionados. Sound off with your predictions in the comments.

Before their work on Spider-Man, and brief Microsoft foray with Sunset Overdrive, Insomniac Games was best known for Ratchet and Clank. Also at the PS5 showcase, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart was announced for PS5.
Another big announcement came in the form of Gran Turismo 7, PlayStation’s cinematic racer known for its pain-staking attention to detail, is also coming to PS5.
While in a move that surprised no one, GTA 5 is also hitting Sony’s next console, but PS4 owners will get extra bonuses until its release.
