Recent reports from players already participating in the Pokemon Go Kanto Throwback Challenge suggest that those who managed to complete tasks so far did so unintentionally. Apparently, Niantic accidentally opened a window during which players could temporarily instigate their Kanto Throwback Challenge by unknowingly completing one of its tasks. Its official response to the situation, posted on the verified Niantic Support Twitter account, can be seen below. “Trainers, research was released to some Trainers ahead of schedule,” the response reads. “The event details will be released in the near future, meanwhile Trainers who received this research can complete it now but won’t receive it again. Sorry for the confusion!” Given that some players now have access to the Kanto Throwback Challenge, the entire rewards list has been made available online. You can check it out in the Reddit post embedded below (courtesy of Serebii): As you can see, the primary reward for each rank is an encounter with each of the Kanto Gym Leaders’ strongest ‘mons, with a Mewtwo encounter being the ultimate reward for completing rank 9. This Mewtwo has a chance to be shiny. One of the tasks - Battle in a Raid - would have been quite difficult to accomplish before today. Fortunately, Niantic recently launched Pokemon Go remote raiding. In other Pokemon Go news, the Pokemon Go Battle League recently had an official leaderboard instated.
