One of the most defining aspects of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is, without a doubt, its combat mechanics. Blocks, parries and ripostes make up the main component of Sekiro’s combat. Skyrim, on the other hand, has a very dull combat system by comparison. Skyrim’s combat has been one aspect modders have been trying to improve for years, each taking a different approach to tweaking it. Modder LertKrush decided to replicate Sekiro’s combat as much as possible with their new Skyrim mod. The mod changes up gameplay considerably by allowing NPCs and players to block as rapidly as they can in Sekiro.
Timing your blocks correctly creates a brief moment where you can riposte, and failing to get the timing right will consume your stamina - essentially a stand-in for posture. Likewise, enemies also have their own, albeit hidden, stamina bar that depletes when they flub their parries. Unfortunately, the mod is not yet available to download. LertKrush explained on Reddit that because their work is based on the the Ultimate Combat SE mod - made by a different modder - they want their permission to be able to release these Sekiro tweaks. Considering it was made by one person, the results are certainly impressive. With a few more tweaks to difficulty, this may finally be what makes Skyrim’s combat exciting. Thanks, PC Games N.
