This week marks the launch of Season 5 for both Call of Duty: Warzone and the main game Modern Warfare. Considering the amount of content the new season is poised to bring, it should come as no surprise that it’s gonna be a big download. Paul Haile, production director at Infinity Ward, took to Twitter to alert fans that the Season 5 patch is going to be big. Haile explained that “all” of the new season’s content is included in the patch, which could indicate that future Season 5 updates will be smaller than usual. As seen in other recent Warzone updates, this one will also optimise the file structure to reduce the game’s size on everyone’s hard drives, despite the big download.
Unfortunately, Haile didn’t provide an exact download size. You should expect that to arrive with the patch notes on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. If previous seasonal patches are any indication, you’re probably looking at a 40+GB download. “It’s a priority for us to keep working on reducing the overall size of MW & WZ on your hard drives, but at the same time also delivering new seasons for everyone to enjoy,” Haile wrote on Twitter. “We’ll continue to work on this and keep pushing space reductions out with future updates.” Season 5 is poised to be the game’s biggest so far, introducing the first ever map changes, a new multiplayer faction as well as the usual assortment of new weapons and likely new maps for multiplayer. Check back later this week for a full breakdown of the patch notes.
