Speaking with IGN, studio head Chris Lee said Halo Infinite is the “start of the next ten years,” for Halo. In other words, don’t expect a Halo Infinite 2, 3, 4, and so on at least for now. “Halo Infinite is the start of our platform for the future,” he said. “We want Infinite to grow over time, versus going to those numbered titles and having all that segmentation that we had before. “It’s really about creating Halo Infinite as the start of the next ten years for Halo and then building that as we go with our fans and community.” As IGN notes, this does not mean the title is a live service game, but you can expect more stories to be told and for it to evolve technically - like with ray tracing coming sometime after launch. Microsoft gave us our first look at the game’s campaign earlier this week during the Xbox Showcase. What we saw, turns out, was an early build. And it looks like, at least for now, folks won’t be able to get their hands on the title until release as 343 Industries isn’t sure when or if public flights will take place as previously planned. Halo Infinite is due out this holiday for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
