As part of today’s PlayStation State of Play, Square Enix announced Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, a new episode carrying on from the events of last year’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake. It arrives on June 10, 2021. The new content revolves around Yuffie Kisaragi, the optional FF7 party member that didn’t make the cut in the original release of Remake. It looks like she has her own storyline and dedicated encounters that may take place during Chapter 8 of the original game. “In the brand new episode featuring Yuffie, play as ninja Yuffie Kisaragi as she infiltrates the shadowy Shinra corporation to steal a powerful Materia and restore glory to her homeland,” says a press release. “Play alongside new characters and enjoy an expanded gameplay experience featuring multiple new combat and gameplay additions.” Final Fantasy 7: Remake Intergrade’s main hook is that it enhances the game for PS5 owners. Players will now have the choice between a performance mode which targets 60fps at 1440p, or a 1440p, 30fps visuals mode with enhanced effects. Both modes upscale to a 4K output. The PS5 version will also take advantage of the DualSense controller’s reactive triggers. You can also expect new difficulty settings for Classic Mode. Other qualities of life improvements include faster load times and the much-requested Photo Mode. If you own the original version of FF7 Remake for PS4, you can upgrade to the PS5 version of the game for free – but the new Yuffie chapter content will cost you. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will also be sold separately. We currently have no word if the Remake or any additional elements of it will appear on any other platforms.
