Each of the aforementioned games received multiple Game Developers Choice nominations. Death Stranding leads with seven nominations, followed by Control and Outer Wilds with five nominations each. Other titles recognized as finalists in multiple categories include four nominations each for Disco Elysium and Untitled Goose Game. Sayonara Wild Hearts and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice were both nominated for three awards. Any video game that was released and made publicly available during the 2019 calendar year was eligible for the 2020 Game Developers Choice Awards. Last year, Amy Hennig was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award and Rieko Kodama with the Pioneer Award. God of War walked home with its third, industry-backed Game of the Year award the same year.
