According to an internal email obtained by Kotaku, Ubisoft has fired Assassin’s Creed Valhalla creative director Ashraf Ismail after a misconduct investigation. The email stated the investigation was helmed by an external firm, and it “determined that Ashraf’s employment with Ubisoft had to be terminated.” Further details were not provided. In June, Ismail announced he was stepping down from his position in order to focus on personal issues. The issues stemmed from allegations of infidelity. Several came forward to state he had taken advantage of his position to form relationships outside of his marriage. Ismail’s firing is just the latest following investigations into allegations of harassment and abuse. When the allegations were made public, Ubisoft admitted to having fallen short on such matters, launched an anonymous online tool to report workplace misconduct, and implemented a five-point action plan. Other personnel recently let go by the company include VP of editorial Maxime Beland, chief creative officer Serge Hascoet, Tommy Francois, VP of editorial and creative services, Canadian studios managing director Yannis Mallat, HR director Cecile Cornet, and PR director Stone Chin.
