Chat platform Discord is sort of usable on the Xbox Series X due to a new version of the console’s browser. As shown by The Verge senior editor Tom Warren on Twitter, the current test version of the new Edge browser is capable of running web apps, thanks to the fact it is built on the open-source Chromium tech, inspired by Google’s Chrome service. This is currently available to folks signed up to Microsoft’s Alpha Skip-Ahead program....

This will enable you to chat with friends across mobile, Xbox, and PC. The update will start rolling out to Xbox Insiders today and will be available soon for all Xbox users.. Discord will allow you to see what your friends are playing and allow you to connect to their voice channel. You can see everyone on the call and who is speaking, and you can adjust the sound if someone is too loud or too quiet....

The update marks the planned February update for Disney Dreamlight Valley, and we won’t be receiving another one until April now. In an interview with Polygon, lead producer Manea Castet shares a few interesting bits of information about Dreamlight Valley, and how these updates have been coming together. Olaf is described as having “some of the best quests they’ve designed yet,” which will expand upon the story of the Frosted Heights biome specifically....

Starring Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald Duck, the foursome have arrived on the islands of Monoth on a quest to recover three mystical books. Doing so will save the world from disaster. Developed by Disney and Dlala Studios, this 1-4 player cooperative adventure platformer allows you to choose your favorite character and unlock special abilities as you perform platforming feats, solve puzzles, and participate in boss battles. Your character can run, swim, swing, and jump through the various hand-drawn biomes, and along the way, you will meet interesting characters and find hidden secrets....

Most interesting is Week 10, which is represented by a game controller, suggesting a game announcement is imminent. No other info is offered as to what that game would be, though. We already know about the Knights of the Old Republic remake in the works for PC and PS5, and the port of the original game for Switch. And there’s a new expansion for The Old Republic on the way....

The Switch version of Doom Eternal was announced right alongside other platforms, but has yet to actually come out. Earlier this week, GameStop began cancelling pre-orders for the Switch port, leading many to believe it has been cancelled. Not the case, apparently, as Bethesda has now confirmed that only the physical version of Doom Eternal on Switch has been cancelled. The game is still on track for release on Nintendo’s console, though only digitally....

EA is partnering with Omega Force, the Koei Tecmo studio responsible for the Warriors series - Samurai Warriors, Dynasty Warriors and others. The developer is working on a new AAA IP that’s set in a fantasy version of feudal Japan. EA called the project, “the next great hunting game,” suggesting it’s a Monster Hunter-style action RPG, though the publisher didn’t reveal any details. The good news is that more information will be shared later this month, potentially at TGS, given the studios and publishers involved....

Epic Games has revealed that it plans to continue attracting game developers and publishers to its Epic Games Store PC platform by offering them exclusive deals. In fact, a company spokesperson told PC Gamer that Epic Store exclusives coming over the next two years are more than all the exclusives published so far. The statement was in response to a speculative feature by the site, which suggested that Epic has moved away from buying exclusive rights to games in recent months....

Cross-play is one of those things Sony has long had a hard line on for seemingly no reason. The platform holder initially blocked the ability for PlayStation players to play games with friends on other platforms. At the start, this affected a small subset of games like Rocket League and several other smaller games, but it all came to a head when Epic Games really pushed for it with Fortnite....

The state of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta really should worry everyone, not just Activision. Even when it’s not stuttering or glitching, its weapon balance and movement mechanics are archaic. Its Netcode is serviceable at best, questionable at worst, and its presentation in everything from visuals, animation, sound design feels like a major step back. Some of these problems will be cleaned up by launch, no question....

Thanks to a new preview from IGN, we know a little bit more about what to expect from Fall Guys Season 3 when it launches later this month. Level designer J.J. Juson has spoken to the site and revealed a bit more information about the new levels that’ll be added as part of the Winter Wonderland-inspired season. Apparently, one of the incoming levels, Tundra Run, will offer “just the right level of chaos” thanks to the new obstacles that are being added to the game....
