It’s all part of Sony’s plan to make PlayStation games available to more players, and the company has outlined plans to continue examining the PC market and bring more to the platform in the future. “We’re still early on in our planning for PC,” said Hulst in an interview on the PlayStation blog....
November 2020 was video game’s biggest ever month in terms of digital revenue, according to a new report by the market analysts at SuperData. During the month, digital spending grew to a staggering $11.5 billion. This includes everything from full game downloads, to DLC, as well as microtransactions across PC, console and mobile. On PC, the biggest winner has been World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, which immediately became the fastest-selling PC game ever at launch....
Rolling out today, the Spider-Man: Miles Morales update brings the Advanced Tech Suit to the game, and also includes some various fixes. One of the cool things being added, but only to the PS5 version, is realistic muscle deformation on select suits. What Insomniac has done is fully simulated the character from the inside-out, using techniques only previously available for films. This tech allows deformation which you will see on the surface of the costume....
In Splatoon 3, you’ll leave Inkopolis behind and head to a new region called the Splatlands. In the region, the city of Splatsville is known as the “City of Chaos” and has a bit of wastelandish vibe to it. Splatoon 3 introduces various new features to the action-shooter series, including weapons such as the bow weapon, customization options, and new movement abilities to bring to the returning 4-v-4 Turf War matches....

One of the bigger questions coming out following the Steam Deck hardware reveal concerns the durability of the handheld’s analogue sticks. The Steam Deck has two of them, and many players’ experience with the Nintendo Switch lead them to question whether Valve’s device will also suffer from similar problems. Namely: stick drift, which refers to analogue sticks’ deteriorating accuracy and tendency to make slight movements on their own. These problems happen to almost all analogue sticks in modern controllers, but they were especially prevalent in Nintendo Switch consoles, to the point that Nintendo was sued multiple times, forcing company president to later apologise....
Steam Next Fest will return in October with a new batch of upcoming games to try out. The online event will run October 1-7 and will once again feature many, many demos, live developer chats, and plenty of livestreams. It’s also an opportunity for developers to get early feedback and build an audience ahead of a future release on Steam by discussing their games in progress. The most recent Steam Next Fest was held June 16 through June 22 and it features hundreds of demos for various upcoming indie titles and games which are currently in development....
CD Projekt RED has taken steps to allow streamers and YouTubers to play Cyberpunk 2077 without being worried about their content being hit with DMCA strikes. In the latest episode of its Night City Wire video series, the developer’s UK head of communications, Hollie Bennett, said that it was including a mode what would allow influencers to turn off certain copyrighted songs that might cause issues. “We know that for content creators, licensed music can sometimes be problematic," Bennett said....
The next DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be today at 7am PT, 10am ET, 3pm UK, 4pm CEST. You can expect the stream to last around three minutes, which will be followed by a message from director Masahiro Sakurai (thanks, Nintendo Everything). The latest DLC character to be added to the game was Min Min, a guest from Arms. She came with a new stage, Spring Stadium, and 18 music tracks from Arms....
This is according to Masahiro Sakurai, who told Famitsu the six fighters coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with the pass will be the last. The characters have already been decided by Nintendo so it’s just up to Sakurai and his team to bring them into the game. Don’t expect one of the characters to be Sora though if rumors prove true. In the interview, which was pulled from the magazine by Ryokutya2089, Sakurai also states there are no plans to release another game in the series this generation, and once development has concluded, he can move on to other projects....
I’m sure some will do more in-depth reporting, including the folks over at our sibling publication Digital Foundry - but in the end, the new Switch OLED model can be summed up pretty simply: it’s the Switch you know and love, but the display is better. Way better. It’s so much better, in fact, that I was a little surprised. I know how good OLED displays are - the original PS Vita was always a high bar for handheld gaming, and I’ve got a couple of lovely LG OLED TVs in the house - but just what a difference it made shocked me both in experiencing older content that I’m familiar with and games I’ve not experienced on the older model of Switch....

We get to see him drop his unloving, sociopathic father, Heihachi, off a cliff – and then a snatch of static segues into the ‘current’ version of Kazuya (complete with red eye and scar) in nice, crisp, modern graphics. “GET READY”, the trailer instructs us. Tekken lovers aren’t particularly surprised by this announcement: Tekken 8 was one of the games featured in the Nvidia Geforce Now datamine, and there’s a Netflix show for the series on the way, too....

Just last week, we heard that Polish developer CD Projekt will be facing one major lawsuit over Cyberpunk 2077 instead of four, as the court dealing with proceedings has consolidated the four class action lawsuits filed against it in December and January into one case. Now, CD Projekt has issued an update on the situation during a shareholder meeting, stating that a lead plaintiff had been appointed ahead and the lawsuit will be filed with the court in June (thanks, VGC)....
It will be possible thanks to Microsoft adding cloud gaming directly into the Xbox app on PC and integrating it into the console experience. This means you can expect xCloud to be a more unified experience with Xbox consoles and PC. That’s a rather handy option, as it will basically allow you to try a game before you download it. Speaking in a press briefing ahead of Microsoft’s Xbox E3 event, Xbox boss Phil Spencer spoke about the company’s commitment to cloud gaming and bringing games to PC....

Neon Giant today revealed Cyber Heist, a major new DLC for The Ascent. The add-on arrives August 18, priced $10/€10/£8. Very little has changed in Verdansk since launch, the battle royale map in Call of Duty: Warzone. Though you could consider the running meta game of locked bunkers and such to be the map’s way of evolving, outside of some of the bunkers themselves opening, the layout remained the same throughout. Now, according to VGC, the map may finally see meaningful changes in Season 5. The site says the changes will be twofold....
