Announced via the Resident Evil Twitter, Capcom has said that the showcase will feature Resident Evil Village Gold Edition and Resident Evil 4. The latter being the game that every Resident Evil fan can’t wait for. The showcase can be watched on the Resident Evil Twitch channel and will begin at 3pm PDT. So, that’s also 6PM ET / 5PM CT / 11PM BST. Needless to say that I won’t be getting many early nights this week, but it’ll be worth it (I hope)....

Kicking things off is Resident Evil Village. The eighth and most recent instalment in the series will arrive on Switch as of October 28, with the Winter’ Expansion DLC accompanying it on December 2. In addition to being able to get up close and personal with Lady Dimitrescu from your Switch, you’ll also be able to spend some time with Jack Baker, Tyrant, and Nemesis from the comfort of your bed, sofa, or wherever you choose to play your Switch games....

Apex Legends, Jedi: Fallen Order and Titanfall developer Respawn has announced that it’s working on a new single-player adventure game. The news was shared by Mohammad Alavi, the project’s creative director, on Twitter alongside a series of job openings. Respawn is seeking a lead technical game designer, a senior technical game designer, a senior combat designer and a senior level designer to work on the incubation project. As Alavi noted, those hires will be joining a “small but ambitious” team within Respawn....

The trial is available only on PC through the company’s Ubisoft Connect (Uplay) app. It kicks off Tuesday, October 12 at 12am PT, 3am ET, 8am UK and goes offline on Wednesday at the same times. You can pre-load it starting now. The Riders Republic trial includes access to all five of the game’s careers, and all four of its multiplayer modes. The tutorial is disabled to get you into the action quickly, and you’ll be able to jump into any of the activities solo or with others in PvP....

It seems a “subtle bug” was responsible for the outage. As Roblox founder and CEO David Baszucki puts it in his blog post: “This was an especially difficult outage in that it involved a combination of several factors. A core system in our infrastructure became overwhelmed, prompted by a subtle bug in our backend service communications while under heavy load. This was not due to any peak in external traffic or any particular experience....

Koch Media, which operates Deep Silver as well as its own games, is hosting an E3 event on Friday, June 11. The event is titled Koch Primetime, and the publisher has not said a word about it yet. The news was actually revealed via Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, which now has the Friday stream as part of its schedule. Koch Primetime kicks off at 12pm PT, 3pm ET, 8pm UK....

There will be various breeds of dogs available in the Pirate Emporium when the September update to Sea of Thieves rolls around. Like cats, monkeys, and parrots you will be able to interact with your furry companions and even give them a nice pat on the head or neck scratch. Also in September, players can expect a new voyage type for the Gold Hoarders, which will be a permanent edition to voyages alongside x-marks-the-spot on maps....

According to a Rely on Horror report, horror fans will have not one, but two Silent Hill games to look forward to. The first is meant to be a soft reboot of the series, with Sony’s Japan Studio co-developing it. Sony is said to be the one responsible for pitching the project, but it’s not clear if another team at Konami is developing it alongside SIE Japan. More interestingly, the project is being worked on by the people behind Siren: Blood Curse, many of whom ended up at Sony’s Japan Studio....

Series veteran John “Soap” MacTavish is going to be showing his face in Call of Duty: Warzone soon. That’s going by the ending of the on-going Modern Warfare storyline in the free-to-play battle royale game Warzone – as uploaded to YouTube by Geeky Pastimes – which features Soap speaking to moustache-wielding wonder-soldier Captain Price via radio after he and Task Force 141 disarm a nuclear warhead. Soap says he is “half a click off the coast,” adding that “things are really heating up out here....

In an interview with Sonic Stadium, Iizuka stated that his goal with next year’s Sonic game (releasing to commemorate part of the blue blur’s 30th-anniversary celebrations) is to ‘create a landmark title in the franchise’ that will ’lay the foundation for future titles’. The upcoming Sonic game, which is targeting a release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC, is looking to Sonic Adventure as a template of sorts – suggesting this new title might nudge Sonic and pals in a new direction Sega can trade on more in the years to come....

A film that is actually thematically about something - Lara Croft overcoming the loss of her father and picking up his legacy, a pretty typical cinematic hero’s journey. But the problem is that this theme and her rise isn’t really earned, which sours the rest of the movie. The film’s producers found a great new Lara Croft, but they never found the heart of the film to justify her action-packed existence....

Known for providing content and co-development services to several highly acclaimed studios, Valkyrie will join PlayStation Studios as the seventeenth studio and will aid in the development of “key PlayStation Studios franchises.” “Valkyrie Entertainment is a highly adaptable and respected studio which has produced high-quality work on a range of platforms from console to PC; and a variety of styles from action to games-as-a-service titles,” said Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios in a press release....

Instead of Days Gone 2, according to a Bloomberg report, Sony Bend was tasked with producing a new Uncharted title, under supervision from Naughty Dog. Seemingly in response to these claims, though, Days Gone director, Jeff Ross, took part in an interview with fellow Sony veteran David Jaffe. The Twisted Metal and original God of War designer directed the conversation with Ross towards the idea that Sony is maligning smaller games and shifting focus to the West....

It wasn’t just the capitalist nightmare of all-out corporate warfare for the pockets and backpacks of gamers that made the PSP special, though – it was that Sony was promising something different. There’d been other contenders in the gaming handheld market, from Sega to Nokia, but all had followed pretty much the same playbook as Nintendo, putting out either games built around handheld gimmicks or slimmed-down versions of known franchises running perhaps a generation or two behind what was hitting consoles at the time....

Sony has kicked off a bounty program designed to test the security of PS4 and PSN. The platform holder is interested in a wide variety of bugs and potential security vulnerabilities. The PS4’s critical issues have the highest bounties by far, at $50,000. Overall, Sony is willing to pay a lot more for PS4 vulnerabilities compared to those found within PSN or its various PlayStation websites. That is understandable, though determining which report is serious enough/deserves the advertised bounty is entirely at Sony’s discretion....

Sony has detailed how you can request a free Camera adapter for PS5 in order to continue playing PS4 PSVR games supported by the new console. The PlayStation Camera adaptor is used to connect the PS4 PlayStation Camera to a PlayStation 5 console. This allows the use of PlayStation VR when playing supported PS4 games on a PS5 console, including games that require PlayStation Move or PSVR aim controllers. An adapter is required, as the new HD camera for PS5 is not compatible with PSVR....

The news came out last week as part of a new development in the messy inquiry into whether Microsoft should be allowed to acquire Activsion Blizzard. As an inquiry persists into whether the deal should be allowed to take place, the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority published Sony’s response to the authority’s Issues Statement, and we’ve seen some peculiar back and forths between each of the companies in the documents....

Space Punks is the new game from Hard Reset, and Shadow Warrior developer Flying Wild Hog. Published by Jagex, Space Punks is an isometric, online co-op shooter RPG. The game combines elements from Diablo and traditional loot shooters, all in an irreverent sci-fi setting. Space Punks has four playable characters, seen in the trailer. The unlikely heroes take on contracts across various planets for money and fame. Each one of the four heroes is also a unique class; Duke is the all-rounder gun guy, whereas the three others have more interesting abilities, like an ethereal dash, the ability to lay mines, as well as other unique buffs....

A new look at gameplay from Star Wars: Squadrons debuted today during Opening Night Live. The demo focused entirely on Squadrons’ single-player story, featuring some cinematic moments and plenty of gameplay action. We also got to see the structure of the campaign, how the perspective will alternate between Republic and Empire, and even a few of the mission types players will get to play. Developed by EA Motive, Squadrons offers a single-player campaign that lets you play from both perspectives, and features multiplayer with 5v5, class-based space combat....
