Rare has announced a pretty big overhaul is coming to flagship Xbox and PC title, Sea of Thieves. A huge new update set to drop early in the new year will introduce a new progression system, Seasons, and more besides to the game. In the latest video update for the game, developer Rare has revealed that each Season in the new setup will last for approximately three months at a time (a model similar to other titles like Destiny 2, Call of Duty and Fortnite), with each one introducing new content to the title....

Microsoft has released a new trailer for Flight Simulator, the first in the new year. The game’s visuals continue to look stunning, and today, we get a glimpse at snow accumulation. Although Flight Simulator uses Bing and real-world data, everything in the world is still a 3D object, which means they can be treated as any other game environment. Case in point: snow, one of the hardest effects to get right in games, is on full display in the new trailer....

Multiple employees at Lab Zero, the studio behind the Skullgirls fighting game series, and Indivisible, have all left the team this week. The departures come in response to a history of abuse and inappropriate behaviour from studio head Mike “MikeZ” Zaimont. MikeZ had in June made racially insensitive jokes, which many took as belittling the Black Lives Matter movement. He would later apologise for his remarks, saying he only wanted to bring attention to the movement....

As promised last month, Frogwares has released our first look at Sherlock Holmes Chapter One gameplay. In it, you see Sherlock putting on disguises, doing a bit of deduction, accusing someone of murder, and almost getting smashed to bits by an elephant. Sherlock Holmes Chapter One finds you playing as a younger, 21-year-old Sherlock trying to solve the death of his mother in the main quest. There are five main quests in the game that are connected through one continuous story....

Konami has quite famously never given Silent Hill the treatment it might deserve when it comes to ports of the game. There’s those infamous ‘HD editions’ on more modern consoles, but even on PC games like Silent Hill 2 suffered from a number of issues. One particular glitch would frequently cause the game to crash, but thanks to a team of modders, it’s a thing of the past. Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition is an ongoing project that seeks to make the game run better on modern hardware, including bringing in widescreen aspect ratios and improving visuals and audio....

Infinity Ward has released a new update for Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare. The patch primarily disables a couple of items/modes while the developer fixes recently discovered exploits. The biggest changes, however, come to the JAK-12 shotgun, which has been a little controversial due to how powerful it is. That’s right. Martha Stewart’s best friend Snoop Dogg is coming to Call of Duty as a playable Operator. The first opportunity to play as the Dogg Father will be in Season 3 of Call of Duty: Mobile through a special Lucky Draw beginning on April 1. This Lucky Draw has him decked out in a 24K gold embroidered outfit. It also includes a new signature weapon based on a fast-firing Legendary SMG that’s gold-plated and diamond-encrusted....

Late last month, Sony revealed a trio of new headsets and a couple of new monitors, which certainly makes it seem like the company is ready to get serious about PC gaming again. The new lineup of tech, called Inzone, seeks to deliver “features that will immerse gamers into the action with total focus,” according to a press release. First is the Inzone M9, a gaming monitor with HDR, 4K resolution, and “Full Array Local Dimming,” which is just fancy talk that means you can change the brightness on specific sections of the screen....

Speaking in a video, the team said the week before Russia’s invasion it was editing a new video which was to go over the motion capture process. The video was to show how the game’s cutscenes were created. However, editing of the video as well as development on the game was suspended due to current events. “On the 24th of February, Russia declared war on Ukraine and sent rockets, tanks, and soldiers to our homeland,” said GSC Game World in a statement....

The action-adventure epic Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order launched on Stadia in November last year, but as of today, it is available in Stadia Pro. Subscribers can claim it now and play instantly alongside the over 25 existing games in their Pro library. Other new Stadia Pro games include Trine 4 - The Nightmare Prince, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, and Floor Kids. And don’t forget: this Friday, May 7, Resident Evil Village releases on the Stadia store as well as other platforms....

EA previously outlined Star Wars Squadrons’ next-gen patch, in which the publisher promised would add a slew of new features to the game on both Sony and Microsoft consoles. However, only the latter set of hardware is going to get the option to play the game at 120fps. PlayStation 5 players aren’t being left behind entirely, though, as “improved visual quality and lighting” have been added for Sony’s next-gen console, alongside variable frame rate support (if your TV can deal with it)....

To get to Tick Tock Clock, you’ll need to reach the highest levels of the Castle, which means opening the 50 star door in the upper castle Lobby. This level isn’t a painting - instead, you get to it by jumping through the face of the big clock up in that room. There’s an important gimmick here mirroring those from Wet-Dry World and Tiny-Huge Island. Depending on the time when you jump into the clock, the level will be a little different....
