We’ve already heard that BioWare and Microsoft may soon deploy the esteemed sci-fi trilogy of space operas on Xbox Game Pass for console and PC after the game appeared the Polish Microsoft Store with a Game Pass badge, and now (two weeks later), more evidence has cropped up that it could be coming soon. Twitter user Aggiornamenti Lumia (via Pure Xbox) who is known for reverse-engineering the Microsoft Store and mining unannounced details from the storefront, has found what appears to be a new version of Mass Effect Legendary Edition for PC....

Mortal Kombat 11 developer NetherRealm surprised fans when it announced that actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, who portrayed Shang Tsung in the 1995 movie, would return to play the character in the game. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa of course, reprised his role in the Crypt and later returned to lead the game’s Aftermath expansion. Now, it turns out NetherRealm may have been working with more than just the Japanese actor. Mortal Kombat 11 players recently datamined a number of voice lines believed to have been recorded by actors Christopher Lambert (Raiden), Bridgette Wilson (Sonya), and Linden Ashby (Johnny Cage)....

Developer 24 Entertainment is bringing the sword-swinging Naraka Bladepoint to Xbox on June 23, which will also be available via Game Pass when it launches on the console. It also seems to be a console launch exclusive, so presumably it will come to PlayStation at a later date. Importantly, the game will also feature cross-play, so new Xbox players will be able to play with any PC players that already own the game....

EA has announced it’s building a new studio that will operate out of Seattle, Washington, and its primary focus will be the development of open world action-adventure games – something EA wants to add into its already impressive roster of games. As per an article from GamesIndustry.biz, the newly revealed studio is in the earliest stages of planning, so there’s currently precious little information available about the titles it’ll be working on....

If you played the Resident Evil 2 remake, you’ll no doubt have seen plenty of mods that replace Mr X with sometimes funny and and other times even more terrifying enemies. The same is true in Resident Evil 3, where these abominations can cause real damage thanks to Nemesis’ expanded role compared to the relatively tame Mr X. Shrek Over Nemesis is the name of a Resident Evil 3 mode that replaces Nemesis with Shrek....

We haven’t had a new entry in either series for a number of years, but according to a recent report from Ruliweb (thanks, VGC), that soon might change. The report shared that Team Ninja president Fumihiko Yasuda spoke during a panel at the G-Star conference in Busan, where he said he was working to bring fans news as soon as he could. Interestingly, a slide at the end of the panel showed a pair of images showing Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive along with the headline “The future of Team Ninja - Reboot of popular series,” in Japanese....

The shops for both systems will close permanently on March 27, 2023, in the West, and Japan on March 28, 2023. Once the dates roll around, it will no longer be possible to make purchases, and it will no longer be possible to download free content, including game demos. As the dates draw closer, some related services will cease to function. It is already no longer possible to use a credit card to add funds to an account in Nintendo eShop on Wii U or the 3DS family systems, and come August 29, it will no longer be possible to use an eShop Card to add funds for either shop....

During Nintendo’s recent earnings call, where the company announced 52.48 million lifetime sales for Switch, it also touched on the running rumour that it’s working on yet another Switch model. Nintendo president, Shuntaro Furukawa, categorically denied that a new Switch model is coming this year. “Please note that we have no plans to launch a new Nintendo Switch model during 2020,” Furukawa told investors, as reported by Gamesindustry. Furukawa also said that Nintendo will continue to work on communicating the different styles intended with each of the Switch’s available modes: base and Lite....

A German court has sided with Nintendo in a case against it filed in 2018 by German and Norwegian consumer advocacy groups. Motivated by a complaint filed by the Norwegian Consumer Commission in 2018 against Nintendo and other companies for not offering refunds on digital pre-orders, the German Consumer Protection Authority took Nintendo to court in Germany over refusing to offer refunds on pre-orders made on the eShop in Europe....

During the briefing, the company announced that it planned to “continue to improve and expand both Nintendo Switch Online and Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, striving to provide services that satisfy customers”. This follows Nintendo’s reveal of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack – a new membership plan featuring N64 and Genesis games with optional controllers. The expansion has all the benefits of a Nintendo Switch Online membership (such as online play, access to library of NES and Super NES games, and more), as well as allowing members to play select titles like Mario Kart 64 online with up to four players for the first time ever....

I don’t find out until I swallow my pride and play the tutorial that’s on offer when you die. It teaches me how to use my yokai powers, which weren’t in the first game at all, and it turns out are vital to any kind of success in this sequel. Most importantly, I learn that when an enemy flashes red (you can’t miss it), they’re about to launch into a devastating blow that is hard to come away from unscathed....

Revealed during the ID@Xbox Twitch Gaming Showcase, Nobody Saves the World is a “new twist” on action RPGs and it’s coming out later this year. As a character named Nobody, you find a powerful magic wand that allows you to swap into different forms - each with its own unique gameplay mechanics - to clear dungeons, solve puzzles, and complete quests. It also features an original soundtrack by Sword and Sworcery composer Jim Guthrie....

Much of what’s on the list won’t come as a surprise, considering the content was paritally leaked on Tuesday. The games which leaked, and are now confirmed are The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners (VR), Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, First Class Trouble, and Knockout City. Two other games made the list, and both are PlayStation VR titles. One title is Until You Fall, where fantasy and synthwave collide in a rather physically active sword fighting game....

For starters, the Outriders team is working on the backend to ensure connectivity issues aren’t a problem when the game launches, as was seen with the demo. According to the developer, the connectivity issues stemmed from players joining too fast for the backend systems to scale in time with the sheer number of players. People Can Fly assures this shouldn’t be the case when the game is fully released. Patches and changes for the demo need to be “carefully balanced” with the ongoing work toward releasing the game, but with that in mind, the team is working on a patch for the demo, which should be released early next week....

The Outriders patch has been deployed on Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms. This patch addresses a bug that has, since the previous update, caused inventories of players to be wiped. It does not restore the items lost, it only prevents the issue from happening in the future. The team is working on the restoration process now, as the restoration process is run via the server database. It will not require a patch to be implemented, and more news on restoration will be coming soon....

Developed by Poland-based People Can Fly and published by Square Enix, Outriders will instead rely on peer-to-peer solutions. “When we were developing the game quite a few years ago, when making the choices we made the decision: ‘okay, we’re not going with the dedicated servers’,” Piotr Nowakowski, lead designer at People Can Fly, told VG247. The studio felt that because of Outrider’s limited player count, dedicated servers weren’t imperative to creating a smooth multiplayer experience....

Overcooked 2 has received the Spring Festival patch, a free content update available now on all platforms, except Xbox One, where it’ll soon arrive. The Spring Festival adds two new playable characters, and five new levels with a unique theme. The first of the new chefs is a rat, given that it’s the Year of the Rat in Chinese. The other is a turtle, who is out to debunk turtle stereotypes....

Independent game developer People Can Fly today announced the development of a new original AAA title planned for release on PC, next-gen consoles, and streaming platforms. The new project will be led by the studio’s New York location. The studio is known for developing the Bulletstorm titles and was co-developer on several games in the Gears of War series. The studio also developed the Painkiller games, and co-developed Fortnite: Save the World with Epic Games....
