Nintendo has dropped a surprise announcement today: a new Legend of Zelda game, no less. It’s called Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. The story is set 100 years before The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The Age of Calamity was referenced breath of the Wild, but full details were not provided in the story. Expect gameplay that will be familiar to fans of the Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors game, which means you will be performing combos and using various powers....

Weird question I know, but my latest pickup was a pair of ‘Retro High Spider-Man Origin Story’ Jordan 1s, which, if you’ve seen the 2018 superhero film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, you’ll have spotted on the feet of affable protagonist Miles Morales. They’re cool as fuck. In fact, they’re the coolest item of clothing I own, and they cost my girlfriend £250 as a Christmas present last year. And she got a good deal....

A tense exchange begins between the two combatants, feeling out the spacing between each other with weapon swings. Most players favour swords or daggers, aggressively rushing opponents down, but a decent number come bearing experimental arms: halberds, greatswords, pyromantic flames. It’s a deadly, intricate dance as the players bob and weave around each other, with small mistakes punished harshly. Multiplayer in Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory will feature up to eight players battling for the best score in Friend Versus Mode. Local multiplayer will also be available. Another is Double Play Mode where two players work together to complete stages. According to Siliconera, during the Square’s TGS 2020 broadcast, different difficulties were shown such as Proud Mode, Beginner, and Normal modes. The game will also feature a museum that allows you to listen to tunes, re-watch cutscenes, and look at artwork....

As the only person of the VG247 team who lives in London, I was the most qualified to give it the Londoner stamp of approval. Check out the video below for my first impressions. You play as three different characters (John, Meena, and Donna) whose stories all weave together one way or another. You can play any of the three characters in any order but you must play all three to move on to the next section....

To its benefit, Aragami 2 does have a more arcadey feel to it than those three. In the let’s play video above you’ll see that the mission objectives are fairly straightforward and the combat is simple, but it gets interesting with all of the shadow abilities you can unlock as you progress. Movement is responsive and it feels easy enough to pick up and play pretty intuitively. It turns out I’m not much of a ninja and put far too much faith in my own ability to style on my enemies....

Lemnis Gate is a game about action, reaction and taking advantage of knowing what happened in the previous rounds to better your future rounds. It’s easy to learn but hard to master and from my short time spent with the game I can already envision what sort of crazy plays can be made....

We’re less than 24 hours away from the big Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, but already we’re starting to see some of the big announcements that are likely to be made by the platform holder. Ahead of the big show going live, a Brazilian Twitter account has shared some images noting that DLC for the Sega-published title was listed for Xbox Game Pass. Man of Medan is the first game of eight in the Anthology, and takes place on a boat - Duke of Milan - in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean. The four college students aboard and the captain are in hot pursuit of a ruined WWII aircraft, however, as is to be expected, things turn a tad awry when the group encounter pirates and a mysteriously ruined ship. As is often the case with Supermassive Games, it can be difficult to distinguish what is the ‘right’ action to choose in Man of Medan....

BioWare and EA have pushed out a new patch for Mass Effect Legendary Edition that fixes a suite of issues players had noticed with the game since its release last Friday. As explained in a set of patch notes, the May 17 update has updated a number of issues in-game: there’s a new visual upgrade for the iris shaders, kill tracking in Mass Effect and Mass Effect 3 has been fixed for Achievement and Trophy reasons, and the game will no longer crash the Xbox Series X launcher if you’re using a wireless headset (thought BioWare admits there still may be an issue if you enable or disable a headset while inside the launcher, though the developer hopes to fix that in a future patch)....

There are no details on the story or whether or not this will be an original story set in the Mass Effect universe, a story related to the video game series, or something adapated from one of the myriad non-game entries in the universe at this stage. Given the difficulties creatives have had with trying to get Mass Effect adaptations off the ground previously, things could still go south for this project....

Developer 4A and publisher Deep Silver added a new update on Friday afternoon that added support for the DualSense controller if you’re playing in wired mode. This is the first time you can use the triggers in any version of the game, too, given that the PS5 version of Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition isn’t due to release until June 18. Twitter user @mrdomino_ showed off the new features in action in a video posted to the social media site, demonstrating the resistance the triggers can provide when firing weapons....

Even before its official rollout, xCloud - the game streaming portion of Xbox Game Pass, has only been available on Android. Apple’s App Store restrictions require that each app is individually submitted for review. This is the main reason why no one, including Microsoft and Google with Stadia, are able to properly offer their game streaming services on iOS. It wouldn’t make sense for these companies to submit each individual game for review, as that would defeat the purpose....

Paul W. S. Anderson’s Monster Hunter movie was slated to release on December 30, but it has been moved up to December 25. The film was originally set to arrive in April 2021. Sony Pictures announced the new release date and confirmed the film will be available on IMAX screens as well as standard theater screens. The update features three new monsters, more options for customizing the appearance and performance of weapons and armor, plus changes for Anomaly Investigations, Anomaly Quests, and the Follower system. The new monsters are Chaotic Gore Magala, Risen Teostra, and Risen Kushala Daora. Gore Magala repeatedly shed their skin until they eventually mature into Shagaru Magala, however sometimes a defect can occur during the molting process. This deformation traps the Gore Magala halfway between its adolescent and mature state, creating the Chaotic Gore Magala variant....

Monster Hunter: World had the potential to split this flagship Capcom series in two. World was a departure from the rest of the series in many ways - a game that took steps to be more approachable, accessible, and generally appealing to the Western market. Performance issues are plaguing some users since Monster Hunter World: Iceborne released on PC this week.
