The Conservatorium Hotel, based in Amsterdam, is unhappy with its apparent appearance in the most recent Call of Duty. The in-game version of the hotel is called Breenbergh, presumably to avoid copyright over the name, though looking at the real world building and the in-game version makes it clear the two are the same. “We have taken note of the fact that the Conservatorium Hotel is undesirably the scene of the new Call of Duty,” Roy Tomassen, the hotel manager, told de Volksrant (translations via PCGamer)....

Nintendo is reportedly working on an updated model of its Nintendo Switch, with plans to release sometime this year, according to Taiwanese publication DigiTimes (by way of Polygon). News of the updated Switch model comes from DigiTimes’ sources on the upstream supply chain. The new Nintendo Switch will apparently begin production at the end of the first-quarter of 2020 - that likely means sometime in March - before it gets an official release in mid-2020....

For context, The Devil in Me marks the end of season one of the anthology, and in typical Supermassive Games style, there’s a hint or two at what’s next for the series. The teaser trailer for Directive 8020, which has been leaked to YouTube, appears to have been taken from the conclusion of the game. This isn’t a complete shock to many, considering a series of trademark filings found by Andrew Marmo earlier this year appears to reveal the names of all upcoming instalments....

You can now expect it to arrive on August 31 (thanks, Massively). “We’ve been hard at work on compelling end-game features we believe are important to include at launch,” reads the developer update. “These features won’t be ready for the spring timeframe that we had communicated. With that in mind, we will release New World on August 31, 2021. “With this extra time, we’ll be able to add these substantial improvements while polishing and fine-tuning the whole game before we open Aeternum’s shores to the world....

According to a report from Geo Corporation data (via 4Gamer), the latest entry in the Nintendo series sold more than 1.3 million units in its first three days. This record was previously held by Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, with 1.3 million units sold within a three day span. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the series’ first entry on Nintendo Switch, and possibly the biggest Animal Crossing yet. The game is built around the new concept of populating a deserted island, rather than moving into an existing town - and you can customise your island’s landscape, or use designs from New Leaf and Happy Home Designer through the mobile app....

According to the latest Famitsu numbers, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has sold 3,031,784 physical copies in Japan since it released on March 20. That’s up considerably from the 1.88 million it sold its first three days on the market in the region (thanks, Gematsu). The free update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons will arrive on July 29. Players can expect new seasonal items and weekly Fireworks shows. You will need to make sure you have downloaded the latest update to the game in order to enjoy the content. And that’s not all to expect, as Nintendo says there is more to come in the way of content. According to the company, the additional content is in development and slated for release later this year....

The first year of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is rapidly approaching its end, as the game will mark the first anniversary of its release on March 20th. But thanks to a dedicated player base, whose love of the game has encouraged Nintendo to announce a second year of regular content updates, there are plenty of new things to see and do within the community — including plenty of cool and interesting Dream Islands to visit....

Storm Point looks to be a largely distinct addition to the pre-existing map pool present in Apex Legends. As an island it of course has lovely coastal beaches around its perimeter, alongside large rocky outcroppings that cover the majority of the island. These large natural formations surround small man-made buildings and small outposts, and also appear to house dangerous local wildlife that’ll attack players when they get close. Then there’s Ash, a character who has been featured heavily in the arena game mode since season 9 and an antagonist from the previous first person shooter from Respawn Entertainment: Titanfall 2....

A new trailer for the sequel to the dinosaur riding, crafting and survival game dropped as part of the showcase, mostly just showing another cinematic trailer. Though we did get to see Vin Diesel’s face once more, and now we know when we can roughly expect to play it. We haven’t really heard much about Ark 2 since it was announced back in December 2020, and this trailer didn’t really tell us much more....

The developer based Flintlock’s original fantasy open world on its native New Zealand. The game has three major diverse zones, each offering a new environment inspired by locales of the beautiful country - from deep caverns to mountainous peaks. Rewarding exploration is major goal for A44 when designing Flintlock’s world, so it won’t just look pretty. Taking things a step further to add detail to every facet of the game’s presentation, A44 is relying on Unreal Engine’s MetaHuman Creator to design believable characters....

Update: Ubisoft has officially confirmed Assassin’s Creed Infinity to be in development at its Montreal, and Quebec studios. In a blog post, the publisher also confirmed that Jonathan Dumont, and Clint Hocking are the game’s creative directors. Dumont, and Hocking will lead their respective teams at Quebec, and Montreal, and share leadership of the project. Quebec’s Marc-Alexis Cote will serve as the game’s executive producer, joined by Montreal’s Etienne Allonier in the brand director role, and Montreal’s Julien Laferriere as senior producer....

With both the full game and season pass included with the Gold Edition, that makes for a ridiculous amount of content for your money. We’re talking about a game that’s at least 40 hours in its own right, without taking into consideration the Legacy of the First Blade and The Fate of Atlantis story add-ons from the season pass. Creative director Ashraf Ismail mentioned Valhalla’s dual-wielding system in a recently unveiled developer commentary trailer, which you can check out in the video embedded below. Ismail specifically mentions that you can choose to dual-wield shields if you want, which could hypothetically allow you to charge into battle like the devastating bulwark of berserk you are. “A throwing axe is an ability you have in the game,” Ismail mentions in the developer commentary....

Larian Studios has told the New York Times Baldur’s Gate 3 development has slowed with staffers working from home due to COVID-19. According to the article, the 300 strong team was working well from home at first building levels and writing code. But as time wore on, some staffers had to work limited hours due to caring for their children among other responsibilities. This led to “reduced productivity and communication struggles,” and development also struggled due to “external partners closing or transitioning to remote work....
