One of the biggest bugs that has been affecting the PC version of Resident Evil Village since its launch on the platform is its traversal stutter, caused by moving through the level or triggering certain events, such as zombie kills. Only by turning off ray-tracing could you mitigate the stutter (which causes huge frame drops fairly often in the game), and even then it wouldn’t eliminate the problem entirely. Thanks to an enterprising hacker, via DSOGaming, it looks like we might have found the cause of the issue: Capcom’s DRM....

Housemarque has announced that a new update is coming to Returnal later today. The patch, which has yet to be detailed, arrives at 12pm PT, 3pm ET, 8pm UK. Alongside the announcement, Housemarque issued a warning to players not to download the patch if they have a run in-progress. The studio recommends turning off the PS5’s auto update feature, as any console left in Rest Mode will automatically grab the patch once it’s available....

Fans have been fairly vocal about the console’s lack of features – variable refresh rates, native 1440p display support, folder support and more, for example and this is something that’s not lost on the company. Announced on the Epic Games blog, the Fortnite and Unreal Engine developer revealed that Sony and Kirkbi would be investing $1billion respectively into the company. In the post, Epic Games wrote that the three companies “aim to create new social entertainment exploring the connection between digital and physical worlds.” As well as this, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said “As a creative entertainment company, we are thrilled to invest in Epic to deepen our relationship in the metaverse field, a space where creators and users share their time....

The patent lists a variety of implementations for how the platform could work, with some versions cross-referencing a player’s game data with other users who’ve completed the same objective, while others include a “request to access a virtual store that enables the player to select resources for use while playing”. As noted by All Gamers, this could lead to players being pushed towards microtransactions while playing. Based on mock-up documents included with the patent, this could include on-screen pop-ups during gameplay which point players in the direction of “resources”....

A Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct will take place on Monday, June 22, and during it, you can expect an in-depth look at the Arms fighter coming to the game. The presentation will be hosted by the game’s director Masahiro Sakurai, and the livestream will last around 35 minutes. It kicks off at 7am PDT, 10am EDT, 3pm BST, 4pm CEST. Nintendo announced in March the next DLC fighter will be from the Arms game....

If you are looking forward to the System Shock remake, you should have a look at the latest video. It’s kind of short but provides a look at gameplay from the alpha demo. A new version of the alpha demo was released in May on GOG and Steam, and it features all unlockable weapons. A release date has yet to be announced.
